I have been fortunate to be associated with WaterCan for eight years - six years as Board member and more recently as its Chair.  It has been a wonderful experience to watch this dynamic and  cost effective organization at work and to work with its competent and dedicated staff.

Access to clean drinking water and basic sanitation should be a fundamental right of everyone. Nearly 1 billion people have no access to clean drinking water and a further 2.6 billion lack access to basic sanitation, like toilets and latrines. This is a basic  cause of global poverty and contributes to a wide range of dibiliting diseases. At any given time, half of the world's hospital beds are occupied by people suffering needlessly from water- and sanitation-related diseases.
